Job description

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Director of Operational Risk Management in delivering the Group Operational Risk Policy requirements and a culture that supports the strategic goals of the Group and its Local Business Unit activities including:

    • Implementation of and recommending enhancements to the Group Operational Risk Management framework and system.
    • Provision of ad hoc support to Head Office and Local Business Units in the development of risk management and risk awareness.
    • Operational risk training (process and system related).
    • Participation in key functional change projects/initiatives.
    • Perform detailed reviews of internal operational risk incidents (including risk appetite flags) at
    • Head Office and LBUs and ensure root causes have been identified, mitigated and appropriate actions tracked / implemented.
    • Provide analysis of the internal and external operational risk incidents (obtained from ORX) and provide read-across on the key / common risk areas / controls breakdown.
  • Support the Group Operational Risk Management team to deliver the annual Group Operational Risk Capital assessment.

  • Lead Head Office and support Local Business Units in the identification / understanding and

  • management of non financial / operational risks through the Management Risk and Control Self-Assessment.

  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of operational processes and risk 'hot topics' and privacy across local business units by assessing the design and effectiveness of controls.

  • Leverage knowledge and best practice across LBU's.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a collaborative approach and ability to command the trust and buy-in of stakeholders. Ideally having existing relationship management responsibilities with senior stakeholders in the current role.
  • Internal risk and control professional with strong insurance / banking business understanding.
  • Results-orientated with experience and expertise of non-financial risk management.
  • Strong management ability, and a demonstrable track record of commercial / delivery success.
  • Strong conceptual and strategic thinker with the ability and vision to see the big picture.
  • Flexible skill set across multiple non-financial risk disciplines.
  • Experience in change and transformation with demonstrated flexibility and agility.
  • Intimate knowledge of the application and components of a strong risk framework
