We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Programme Manager .

Principal Responsibilities

Project Brief:

Securities Services is positioned as a pan-regional player deriving competitive advantages from its #1 position in Asia and the Middle East, its balanced business profile across asset owner & manager and banks & broker dealer sectors, its international scale and HSBC’s global universal bank model. Its strategy is guided by three strategic imperatives:

  • Asia First – be the undisputed leader for Asia (incl. ME) across all major asset classes and services
  • Global Competitiveness & Scale – protect the franchise in the RoW, stay relevant to our core clients and maintain global scale, and
  • Technology-led Operating Transformation – serve clients’ data & digital needs, drive efficiency and increase execution capacity

A recent business review has identified a number of opportunities to reinforce the Securities Services’ global strategy in the locations where it currently operates. These opportunities have been consolidated into a programme of work for which a Programme Manager is required.

Role Purpose:

The Programme Manager will lead the delivery of the Programme, ensuring best practice and drive are maintained throughout. It will be the job of the Programme Manager to ensure that execution remains true to the scope and timescales of the business case employing appropriate decision making and where relevant course correction in the event of any divergence.

The Programme Manager will be supported by Project Management in location, Programme Office and Securities Services’ Strategic Delivery Team on matters related to design and thought leadership.

Responsibilities: - Programme/Project Set Up and Closure: Works with the business to define and agree programme structure and benefits and to confirm that outputs and outcomes will support their realisation

  • Governance and Reporting: Creates, implements and operates within an appropriate governance framework which aligns to the wider Group governance framework
  • Programme/Project Control and Delivery: Shapes, leads, directs and controls the delivery of the programme, including pragmatic application of programme management methodologies, use of a clearly defined delivery roadmap and robust financial and risk management
  • Planning and Finance: Designs and drives the programme plan; understands, challenges and proactively manages the cost position; and acts to mitigate potential cost or time delays
  • Resource Management: Identifies and secures appropriate resources to work on the programme; defines clear roles and responsibilities for all team members including specific responsibility for production of all deliverables
  • Stakeholder Management: Takes steps to identify and develop relationships with all programme stakeholders. The Programme Manager will design strategies to ensure that all stakeholders remain informed about the programme such that they can provide maximum benefit to delivery
  • People and Self Development: Provides team leadership to Change professionals, developing colleagues through challenging objectives, feedback and coaching. This may be with a permanent team or a matrix structure across multiple locations
  • Risk: Continuously evaluates programmes/projects for financial and people risk and regulatory compliance and takes appropriate steps to mitigate
  • Group Values: Role models HSBC Group values and behaviour and encourages this across the Change community, through visible leadership and by example

Requirements - Experience of managing complex programmes spanning multiple business areas and functions. Able to manage and get the most out of people on a direct basis and through a matrix structure

  • Expert in adapting complex business problems into coherent plans and driving these plans through to conclusion
  • Expert in Change Management and Project / Programme Methodology with a professional project/programme management qualification (e.g. PMP, APM, ASP)
  • Securities Services Experience ideal
  • Ability to operate and influence at senior level and demonstrate leadership of people and teams on a daily basis
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, credibility with senior stakeholders & self-starter who can operate on own initiative
  • A high quality degree level education
