Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and acquire high-potential book projects that align with our brand and business goals. Negotiate and secure contracts with authors and agents.
- Provide top-tier editorial guidance, from structural and line editing to final proofing, ensuring the highest quality of the finished product. Manage editors, copyeditors, and proofreaders.
- Serve as the project lead, coordinating and motivating internal teams (including production, design and publicity) to create and execute powerful, integrated publishing campaigns.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the market, reader trends, and the competitive landscape to inform acquisition and marketing strategies.
- Act as the primary point of contact and a trusted partner for literary agents, building strong, long-lasting relationships.
- Guide and mentor junior members of the editorial and publishing team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in book publishing, with a significant portion in an acquisition’s editorial role.
- Strong understanding of all aspects of the publishing process, from manuscript to marketplace.
