Museums

Weekend pastimes can be educational and entertaining if you spend some time acquainting yourself with the city’s many museums with the family, and familiarise yourself with the place your children live in! Oh, did we mention that a LCSD museum family pass costs just HK$100, and it works year-round across most government-run museums? Here are our picks of LCSD museums to start your learning journey.

Science Museum - Tsim Sha Tsui East

Within walking distance of either Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsim Sha Tsui East, or Hung Hom MTR stations, the Hong Kong Science Museum has long been a favourite with kids, owing to its multiple permanent interactive exhibits. Come and be enlightened by a diverse display of science (and dinosaurs).

Museum of History - Tsim Sha Tsui East

Knowledge comes in a complete package in Tsim Sha Tsui East, as just opposite the Science Museum sits the Hong Kong Museum of History. ‘The Hong Kong Story’ permanent exhibition provides a solid overview of the city that the whole family will appreciate.

Space Museum - Tsim Sha Tsui

The iconic dome by the Avenue of Stars and Hong Kong Cultural Centre is the Hong Kong Space Museum. Two thematic exhibitions and the OMNIMAX planetarium shows give you and your kids plenty of opportunities to gaze up at and relax, among the stars.

Heritage Museum - Sha Tin

Despite the names, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and the aforementioned Museum of History share little similarity. Situated along the Shing Mun River, the Heritage Museum hosts several permanent galleries that tell the story of Hong Kong culture and its leading lights. Special exhibitions bring history, culture, and art together as one. There’s a kid’s zone to keep the little ones entertained, too.
