Legal

Our legal function comprises legal counsels and executives of high caliber with their respective expertise. We work as a team, with the mission to provide legal services of the highest professional standards to: -

• facilitate the business by giving proactive, practical and comprehensive legal advice
• manage legal risk protect the integrity and reputation of the bank

• protect the integrity and reputation of the bank

  We function as trusted legal advisers to our management and the business and other support functions that we serve. If you join the Legal function, you will be part of a global team, providing you with know-how and support, and you will gain exposure to a variety of financial services and products.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Senior Legal Counsel.

Principal responsibilities

• Providing subject matter expertise and professional and practical advice and guidance on various business activities and initiatives (with a particular focus on credit and lending matters), product development and global strategic initiatives
• Drafting, reviewing and advising on relevant contracts and related transaction documentation
• Provide legal advice, guidance and support to ensure that the legal and reputational risk relating to the business are identified, reported and mitigated
• Identify new legal, regulatory and market developments that can affect business activities and e valuating and responding to changes in legal and regulatory requirements
• Risk management activities - including but not limited to understanding and applying the risk management framework, and identifying and managing risks
• Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with business managers, stakeholders and the Global Legal function

Requirements- Qualified Lawyer with 8-10 years' experience

• Experienced and confident practitioner
• Good knowledge of the HASE and HSBC Group corporate structures, its business and personnel and a clear understanding of HASE and HSBC's corporate culture a plus
• Excellent knowledge of credit and lending documentation
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills and will have demonstrated the ability to take initiative and apply good commercial and legal judgment
• Up-to-date knowledge of developments in the related industry sector
• Ability to handle a diverse range of issues, deal with new or unexpected situations and work under pressure
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong inter-personal skills
• Lateral thinking/problem solving
• Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processe
• A collaborative teammate, but also a self-starter who is able to work independently with an entrepreneurial drive
