About The Placement
The Experience
As a Risk & Regulatory Consulting Placement Intern, you will have the opportunity working on projects leveraging your quantitative degree and expertise. In this programme, you will find yourself working with house hold Financial Services Institutions or reinsurance company names help them more confidently make decisions to drive performance. You will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside leading professionals and build strong and well-rounded Risk or Regulatory Consulting skills early in your career. Your focus and every day project experience may include:
Assist client teams in understanding and quantifying risk exposures, evaluating risk strategies, building and maintaining risk models focusing in the area of Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk and Market Risk.
Conduct day-to-day actuarial work for developing and maintaining actuarial and financial projection models, financial reporting, actuarial valuation, asset liability management, investment, reinsurance and other actuarial analytics related work matters
Gather and analyse information, formulate and test hypotheses, develop and provide proactive solutions in enhancing business efficiency
Conduct modelling related to valuation of derivatives (fixed income, equity and other complex financial instruments), and statistical projection and analyses (e.g. time series, survival analysis, etc.)
Support clients in their most pressing regulatory challenges through reviewing and developing client’s internal policy, conducting process revamp and provide proactive recommendations to mitigate and manage enterprise risks.
Contribute to knowledge development by helping define and expand distinctive risk based methodologies.
Assist clients to achieve effective and efficient end-to-end implementation of new regulatory reporting bases e.g. GIECA, HKRBC, IFRS 17 / 9, US GAAP LDTI, etc. across APAC jurisdictions
Apply new technologies and digital transformation solutions, e.g. Oracle, AWS, Salesforce to help clients overcome current obstacles in financial reporting and management decision making process
Build in-depth knowledge of the insurance market and products, establish strategic thinking to understand the value generators, business growth drivers, key performance indicators, etc.
Collaborate and communicate across functions, work with people from different backgrounds, e.g. Finance, IT, Strategy, etc. to deliver high-quality work products to our clients

About You
Penultimate-year students, preferably majoring in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Risk Management, etc.;
Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
Intellectual rigour, flexibility and agility
Good team player and enjoy working collaboratively with people from a variety of backgrounds
Knowledge in financial modelling, analytics and quantitative techniques
Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access
Practical experiences in using statistical software (e.g. SAS, R) and programming languages (e.g. VBA, MatLab), actuarial software (e.g. Prophet, GGY-AXIS, MG-ALFA)
Fluency in English and Cantonese/ Mandarin
