The Company

As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all tax-related matters for our operations. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external tax advisors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with tax laws, optimize tax positions, and support the overall tax strategy of the organization. Your expertise in Hong Kong and China tax regulations, as well as your ability to analyze complex tax issues, will be critical in minimizing tax risks and maximizing tax efficiencies.

The Role

  1. Tax Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with Hong Kong and China tax laws and regulations, including timely and accurate filing of tax returns, reports, and other tax-related documents.
    • Monitor changes in tax legislation, regulations, and reporting requirements, and proactively assess the impact on the organization.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and external tax advisors to gather necessary data and information for tax compliance purposes.
    • Review tax calculations and workpapers prepared by the tax team or external advisors to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  2. Tax Planning and Advisory:
    • Provide tax advice and guidance to various business units and departments on transactions, investments, and business operations to optimize tax efficiency.
    • Identify tax planning opportunities and develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities while aligning with business objectives.
    • Conduct tax research and analysis on complex tax issues, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as legal, finance, and treasury, to assess the tax implications of new initiatives and transactions.
  3. Transfer Pricing:
    • Oversee the development and implementation of transfer pricing policies and documentation in compliance with Hong Kong and China transfer pricing regulations.
    • Review and analyze intercompany transactions to ensure arm's length pricing and adherence to transfer pricing guidelines.
    • Collaborate with finance and legal teams to establish appropriate transfer pricing methodologies and supporting documentation.
  4. Tax Audits and Disputes:
    • Manage tax audits and inquiries from Hong Kong and China tax authorities, including preparing responses and supporting documentation.
    • Assist in resolving tax disputes, including negotiating with tax authorities and representing the organization during tax audits or appeals.
    • Monitor and assess tax risks, identifying potential areas of exposure and implementing strategies to mitigate risks.
  5. Tax Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and review tax provisions and tax-related financial disclosures in accordance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of tax-related information for internal and external purposes, including tax-related disclosures in financial statements.
    • Maintain proper tax documentation and records, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements and supporting tax positions taken.
  6. Stakeholder Management:

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and business teams, to provide tax-related guidance and support.
    • Build and maintain relationships with external tax advisors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies to stay updated on tax developments and ensure compliance.

    Your Profile- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field. Professional certifications such as HKICPA, CTA, or similar qualifications are preferred.

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in tax management, preferably within an investment bank or financial services organization.
    • In-depth knowledge of Hong Kong and China tax laws, regulations, and practices, with a strong focus on corporate tax and financial services taxation.
    • Familiarity with transfer pricing principles and documentation requirements.
    • Experience in managing tax audits and disputes with tax authorities.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex tax issues and provide practical solutions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
