Based in Macau, Prof. Rob Law is the University of Macau Development Foundation Chair Professor of Smart Tourism and the Deputy Director of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management, University of Macau. The University of Macau initiated the Alliance for Technology, Innovation, and Talent Development in the Western Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and jointly established the alliance with Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College and Wuyi University in 2019. The alliance actively engages in enhancing the integration of research and education in higher education institutions, as well as contributing to technological innovation, talent development, and the establishment of a high-level talent hub in the western Greater Bay Area. Prof Rob Law believes nurturing a high-quality talent pool is essential to the long-term development of Macau tourism and wider economic success.

Prof. Rob Law is University of Macau Development Foundation (UMDF) Chair Professor of Smart Tourism. Prof. Law is an active researcher. He has received 100 research related awards and accolades (e.g. recognized as the most prolific tourism/hospitality researcher in the world over two decades from 2000 to 2019 – International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, 2021), as well as millions of USD external and internal research grants. Prof. Law has edited four books and published 1,000+ research papers (including several hundred articles in first-tier academic journals). His publications have received 69,000+ citations, with h-index/i 10-index = 120/563 http://scholar.google.com.hk/, accessed on March 5, 2024). In addition, Prof. Law serves different roles for 200+ research journals (e.g. on the Editorial Boards of 67% of the Q1 journals and 75% of the Q2 journals in hospitality/tourism), and is a chair/committee member of more than 180 international conferences.
