Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Assistant Manager, External Investigative Reporting.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Conduct effective and timely investigations in accordance with agreed standard reporting requirements and turnaround time.
  • Produce a high quality investigation report including a comprehensive narrative and recommendation as to whether or not financial crime concern is identified.
  • Recommend on filing suspicious activity reports regarding potential money laundering and terrorist financing activity.
  • Responsible for escalating investigations to risk owners and risk stewards, including but not limiting to appropriate referral for action.
  • Responsible for referring cross border or cross LoB investigations to Regional Investigations for co-ordination where appropriate.
  • Conduct risk analysis and provide MI to mitigate identified risks, track recommendations and agreed actions to ensure completion.
  • Undertake ad hoc transaction monitoring and investigations projects, reviews and monitoring when required

Requirements - Graduate in Law, Risk Management, Accounting & Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related discipline is preferred

  • Experience in investigative work
  • Good working knowledge of money laundering and terrorist financing risk within the financial services industry
  • Strong analytical mindset with self-motivation and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Logical thinking and detail-minded with good research skills
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills
  • Good knowledge of application software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & Chinese Word Processing
  • Prior exposure in banking and finance systems will be highly regarded
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes
