INDUSTRIAL CENTRE

Senior Engineer / Engineer (Ref. 240416018-IE)

The Industrial Centre is a central support department providing teaching, research, entrepreneurial, and knowledge transfer support to the University. The Centre is looking for individuals who are innovative, technology savvy, and love to work in multi-disciplinary teams.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) lead teaching and learning subjects at degree levels, including designing and preparing for new teaching materials, supervising student projects, and assessing students’ learning outcomes;

(b) involve in the PLC or manufacturing automation development works and knowledge transferrable projects;

(c) conduct or support research and development activities in automation and robotics applications for industries; and

(d) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Centre or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Automation and Control or a related discipline;

(b) at least five years of work experience and possess strong knowledge in application of software solutions in Industrial Control Systems;

(c) a good sense of project management and execution, with an analytical mind and strong problem-solving skills;

(d) willingness to learn, good sense of responsibility and team spirit, with the ability to work with people from different departments; and

(e) a good command of written and spoken English.

Preference will be given to those with professional qualification, such as registered electrical worker or engineer. Applicants have hands-on experience in any one of the following expertise will be an advantage:

• experience in automation system design, robotics, machinery and machine vision.
• application of variable speed drive systems and the use of SCADA systems within an industrial environment.
• PLC Programming Software and I/O Systems.
• In-depth understanding of electrical circuit diagrams.
• projects in computer programming, C/C++, Python, Java or matlab.
• R&D engineering activities in mechatronics such as robotic design and applications, automation, or relevant areas.

Applicants with higher qualifications or more experience may be considered for the post of Senior Engineer.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
