INDUSTRIAL CENTRE

Senior Engineer / Engineer (Ref. 240416019-IE)

The Industrial Centre is the central innovation and technology hub at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The Centre is seeking highly motivated candidates to join and contribute to the development of solutions utilizing technologies such as collaborative robotics, AI-assisted automation, advanced machining and material characterization.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) facilitate student learning and development, and to develop corresponding curriculum and pedagogy;

(b) lead and coordinate student learning modules and subjects, and to promote teaching quality among colleagues;

(c) lead and organise research support and conduct knowledge transfer activities;

(d) implement actions, regulations and procedures of the assigned technical Steam for the University’s strategic initiatives and development;

(e) lead and organise essential activities for the operation of the assigned technical Steam;

(f) work closely with stakeholders in the University, industrial partners and clients; and

(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Centre or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a recognised degree or above in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline;

(b) at least five years of solid experience in leading and participating in innovation and technology projects;

(c) hands-on experience in programming languages (e.g. C++, Python, Java or Javascript), and be familiar with database and SQL concepts; and

(d) a good command of written and spoken English.

Applicants have experience in one or more of the following domains will be an advantage:

• Robotic ROS SDK developments.
• AI technologies, e.g. Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Machine learning frameworks and libraries, e.g. Scilir-learn in Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Cloud platforms, e.g. AWS, Azure.
• Software development methodologies, e.g. Agile or Scrum.

Applicants with higher qualifications or more experience may be considered for the post of Senior Engineer.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
