Associate Vice President (Academic)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide academic strategic vision and dynamic leadership in institutional review, curriculum and programme development; advance the teaching and learning environment; and promote innovative scholarly activities.
  • To assist the President and Vice President (Academic) in providing effective academic leadership, strong administrative oversight, prudent resource allocation and management.
  • To facilitate international interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations to advance undergraduate and postgraduate education, and expand the training and employment horizon of student;
  • To encourage and support research, grant-writing, publishing and other scholarly activities of the College
  • To ensure that the best interests of the College’s students are well served in all matters and decision.
  • To carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the President and Vice-President (Academic).

Requirement

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent
  • A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research and service commensurate with that of an associate professor
  • Served in prestigious higher education institution(s) in Hong Kong and/or Mainland China at the rank of Faculty/School Associate Dean or above level
  • Proficiency in Putonghua and English
  • An experienced academic leader and a skilled communicator, with a specific focus on academic development and research.
  • Abundant experience in providing effective leadership to Graduate School and academic units, including assisting the overseeing the development of academic strategy and its implementation, and institutional review; academic budget planning and allocation; grants submission processes and management; and student enrolment.
