Job Title: Research Assistant (Roger King Center for Asian Family Business and Family Office)

Job Posting Details The appointee will work closely with faculty members on research projects/training projects in the areas of family business and family office and have the chance to be exposed to international academic institutions, top financial institutions, renowned family businesses and family offices. The appointee is expected to:

  • Assist in both practical and academic research, including literature review, collecting and analysing data, drafting articles, cases, research reports and white papers, etc.;
  • Prepare and conduct interviews with family business owners/entrepreneurs/family office practitioners;
  • Assist in training programs, including content design, material preparation and class coordination when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should have a master’s degree or above in business related disciplines;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English;
  • Experience in handling quantitative and qualitative data and preferably knowledge of using statistical tools to process data;
  • Great attentiveness to details and strong analytical skills;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; and
  • Capability of taking up ad hoc tasks when needed.

(Duration: 2 years, renewable) About the Center The Roger King Center for Asian Family Business and Family Office (“The Center”) at HKUST Business School is one of the most active and productive research and teaching centers in the areas of family business and family office in Asia. In particular, the Center is the pioneer in doing research and teaching on family office.

Areas of research focus of the Center Director Prof. Winnie Peng and Senior Advisor Prof. Roger King include succession planning, professionalization, family governance, family philanthropy, wealth management, family office direct investment, impact investing, etc. They publish research papers in the international academic journals and column articles on local and international media, which are often quoted by Bloomberg, Forbes, Asian Private Banker, Family Office Times magazine, etc. They have also developed a rich collection of Asian family business and family office case studies on prominent families. In addition, the Center publishes global and regional industry surveys and research reports with universities and industry partners around the world.

The Center provides family business and family office courses in full levels at HKUST executive programs, EMBA, MBA, Msc and UG. The Center also provides tailor-made training and joint programs for family business and family office owners, financial institutions and universities. The center also hosts seminars and forums frequently.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
