Department of Education Policy and Leadership
Faculty of Education and Human Development

The Department of Education Policy and Leadership (EPL) seeks to recruit emerging scholars at the rank of Associate Professor/Assistant Professor. With members of diverse specialisms, we host various undergraduate, postgraduate and professional development programmes. Our research and teaching relate to leadership, innovation, entrepreneurialism, teacher and professional development, organizational studies, education law, policy studies, and professionalism in local, regional, and international education contexts. Increasingly, we engage the education sector beyond schools, such as private, corporate, and non-governmental organizations with education and training service units.

Although all qualified applicants with relevant degrees are encouraged to apply, our priority areas for recruitment include:

  • Integrating the AI-human interface across the education sector;
  • Educational leadership in the GBA/Greater China

The successful candidates will aspire to work individually and collaboratively to conduct cutting-edge research, develop and teach innovative courses in undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing professional development programmes, and engage in community services. Accordingly, shortlisted candidates will evidence a clearly defined research agenda relevant to the Department’s vision, a strong publication record, the capacity to win competitive grants, a commitment to high-quality teaching, sustained engagement in professional services, and an aptitude for innovation.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree and prior degrees in fields relevant to one or more of these areas. Applicants for Associate Professor should possess evidence of strong research output and publication in relevant field(s) and a strong research track record and impact. Applicants for Assistant Professor should possess evidence of scholarship, research, and publications in the relevant field(s). Professional fluency in written and spoken English is required. Competency in Chinese, an understanding of the Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area context, Qualified Teacher Status, or prior working experience in the education sector is advantageous but not required. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include the University’s Voluntary Contributions to MPF Scheme or a contract-end lump sum payment (totaling up to 15% of the basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits, and, where applicable, housing benefits.
