Job Responsibilities:

  • Support to drive the formulation, maintenance and enhancement of climate risk related policies and procedures
  • Drive the integration of climate risk considerations into the risk management framework, including Risk Appetite Statement, climate risk strategy, scenario analysis, stress testing and etc.
  • Assist for oversight of the climate risk management framework, including but not limited to the coordination and implementation of relevant Climate Risk related key policies, measures, tools, reporting, processes, practices, etc.
  • Develop measures to monitor climate risks, establish early warning indicators and/or thresholds to control the risks and participate in climate risk assessment
  • Collaborate with and facilitate collection from various sources the essential information / data for performance indicators (KPIs) identification, analysis and monitoring
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert and central coordination point for climate risk management, green and sustainable finance, ESG reporting and carbon neutrality strategy for Risk Management Department
  • Collaborate with risk controllers to enhance the relevant assessment methodologies, systems/tools and data for climate risk management
  • Engage with internal stakeholders (including management, business units and supportive functions) to establish strategy, ownership, accountability, and delivery for climate risk management in compliance with HKMA SPM GS-1, and in alignment with the Bank's strategy in ESG, Green and Sustainable banking
  • Liaise and work closely with the external stakeholders (including regulators, external/internal auditors and consultants) on climate risk related matters to ensure compliance of regulatory and internal requirements

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor/undergraduate University degree with major in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Environmental Science or other disciplines relevant to climate risk management
  • Advanced degree or other relevant professional qualification (e.g. SCR, CESGA, CEP, Carbon Auditing) is a plus
  • Sound knowledge in Climate Risk management related standards / guidelines (e.g. HKMA SPM GS-1, NGFS, IPCC, ISSB, SBTi)
  • 3-5 years of experience in the banking or consulting industry and knowledge of banking business, processes and products. Specialized in credit risk, climate risk management or green and sustainable finance is advantageous
  • Experience in financial analysis, accounting, credit assessments, modelling, consulting and/or sustainability
  • Demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Capacity to process high volumes of complex and evolving information, and synthesize key themes and issues
  • A good awareness of Sustainability and Climate change and a desire to work in this field
