We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Communications Manager, CMB ASP.

Principal Responsibilities

Role purpose (overall high-level summary of the role)

The role of the Group Communications and Brand function is to protect and enhance the reputation of HSBC, and to engage our colleagues, build pride and confidence in, and commitment to, HSBC.

This role is part of the Group Communications and Brand function and is responsible for supporting communications for the Commercial Banking (CMB) business in Asia Pacific.

The Communications Manager, Commercial Banking, Asia-Pacific is accountable functionally at a business-line level and at an entity level to the Regional Head of Communications for Commercial Banking Asia Pacific.

The role holder will work very closely with the various disciplines within the business and market comms leads across CMB Asia-Pacific network to support the communications strategy set for the business in the region.

The role focuses on delivering internal and external communications in support of the business strategy. This role supports the identification and execution of communications strategies to engage employees, customers, media and wider stakeholder groups.

The role should anticipate areas of opportunities, growth and reputational risks for the business, working with the Regional Head of Communications for CMB to offer solutions and advisory on communications aspects of these areas, as well as wider strategic support on the Asia-Pacific CMB ExCo. Delivered successfully, the role will enhance the reputation of HSBC and CMB with internal and external stakeholders at both a regional and market level.

The role holder will work across Group Communications and Brand network to ensure that CMB messaging is consistent, strong and enhances the overall reputation of HSBC.

The role also works collaboratively with other key functions such as Marketing, Brand, and Risk as well as the wider Communications function including Global CMB Communications in their support of the business. The role holder is charged with supporting the regional team, ensuring a high degree of coordination and collaboration throughout the matrix.

The role holder is an influencer of the overall communications strategy for HSBC in the region and represents the specific needs of Commercial Banking in Asia Pacific. The role holder is also charged with supporting the strategic communications needs of all associated global product businesses within CMB.

The individual must have business understanding with the ability to assist the Regional Head of Communications for CMB lead change across the business, identify new opportunities for growth, while ensuring the outcome of communications activities to ultimately support business goals, differentiate HSBC from its competitors and provide clients and prospects with compelling reasons to choose HSBC.

Requirements - Proactively strengthening the reputation for Commercial Banking in Asia Pacific. Bringing to life our key themes and developing compelling content based on external and internal insights, to support CMB and HSBC more widely

  • Ensuring all content and campaigns are aligned to the commercial objectives of CMB, making best use of materials, budgets and resources across HSBC’s internal and external audiences
  • Work closely with other functions (such as Marketing, Public Affairs, Human Resources) to ensure content is appropriate, has positive impact and well-suited to enhance HSBC’s reputation
  • Setting overall objectives, tone, content and targets for CMB communications output and content; and ensuring these are achieved
  • Commercialising content for CMB leadership, to support the growth agenda of the business

The role holder will bring focus around: - Commercial: Working closely with business teams to deliver communications output that helps support and drive CMB’s growth agenda and opportunities in Asia Pacific

  • Driving innovation and positive outcomes in content and channels that land with our key audiences in Asia-Pacific
  • Broad capabilities across the sub-functions of Communications: Digital Content & Campaigns; Internal Communications, Media Relations.
  • Team engagement – Contribute to the team to effect HSBC values, strengthen collaboration, creativity and teamwork
  • Raise brand visibility of CMB as the #1 international bank for corporates in Asia Pacific, effectively targeting and reaching clients, stakeholders and relevant audience to capture growth opportunities in high-growth region
