A Great Transport Hub

Thanks to its strategic location, Hong Kong serves as a gateway to the Mainland and the rest of Asia, with many of the region’s key markets, such as Japan, Singapore, and South Korea, within a four-hour reach of the city. Situated in the heart of the Asia-Pacific, half of the world’s population can be reached from Hong Kong within a five-hour flight. This means you can easily jet off to Bangkok or Shanghai for a weekend city break and enjoy relaxing holidays in Phuket or Bali.
Hong Kong also has one of the most highly developed transport networks globally, based on factors including distance to public transit, affordability, operating hours, crowding, and commute speeds, according to a new study by the Oliver Wyman Forum and the University of California, Berkeley. Running from West Kowloon to the Mainland, the High Speed Rail service is the fastest cross-boundary land transport in Hong Kong, taking 48 minutes to reach Guangzhou South Station from the city. The service connects the city to 58 Mainland stations – including Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing.
Getting in and around the city is also easy thanks to several convenient transport options including the Shatin to Central Link, a nine-stop extension of the MTR line that stretches from Admiralty on Hong Kong Island to Tai Wai in the New Territories, with a stop-off at the Exhibition Centre.
