Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a dedicated team managing a 24/7 infrastructure environment.
- Oversee daily operations, system performance, and incident response activities to ensure continuous service delivery.
- Manage and optimize Linux/Unix systems (RHEL, Solaris) with a focus on reliability and scalability.
- Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate routine tasks and streamline operations.
- Implement and maintain virtualization platforms using VMware and KVM, ensuring high availability and efficiency.
- Oversee critical network services including DNS, VPN, and NFS, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity across the organization.
- Develop, document, and enforce standardized operational procedures in compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable business insights.
- Collaborate with vendors and partner organizations to evaluate, procure, and implement cutting-edge solutions that enhance system performance and security.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7+ years of experience in Linux/Unix administration with deep expertise in RHEL and Solaris.
- At least 3+ years of hands-on experience in managing infrastructure operations in a high-stakes, regulated environment.
- Proven mastery in shell scripting and automation techniques to optimize system administration processes.
- Extensive experience with virtualization technologies (VMware/KVM) and managing high-availability systems.
- Strong understanding of network services (DNS, VPN, NFS) and the ability to maintain and troubleshoot complex network architectures.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of building and managing effective, cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Relevant certifications (RHCE, VMware Certified Professional, etc.) are advantageous.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and hybrid environments.
- Experience with ITIL or similar service management frameworks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
