Responsibilities

• Develop Occupational Safety & Health and Operations Safety standards and procedures for railway operations by leading the teams to keep abreast of the latest legislations, codes of practices, guidelines etc. issued by relevant government authorities and international bodies
• Oversee the implementation of Safety Management System to ensure the workplace is safe and compliant with all relevant regulations and standards
• Develop and monitor the implementation of safety promotion programmes to raise the safety awareness of passengers, staff and contractors on operations and occupational safety
• Monitor the handling of occupational safety & health and operations safety related issues in railway operations with the relevant government authorities concerned
• Act as the subject matter expert to provide guidance and professional advice for matters related to Operations & Occupational Safety
• Ensure a proper reporting of operations safety and MTR by-law matters to the government authorities
• Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessment to identify hazards and implement corrective actions

Requirements

• Degree in Safety Management, or a related engineering discipline
• A minimum of 12 years’ relevant working experience, of which 5 years should be at managerial level in the relevant discipline(s) with experience in railway operations
• In-depth knowledge of the principles and application of safety management, and the related Hong Kong Occupational Safety & Health legislations
• Registered Safety Officer, Registered Safety Auditor, Registered Professional Engineer or relevant discipline with equivalent qualification is preferred
• Possession of Corporate Membership of a recognized professional institution is an advantage
