Reports To: General Manager Group Transformation Advisory

Department: Group Transformation Advisory (GTA)

Supported by a team of project and change management professionals, this person works with leaders in business units across the group by advising, mentoring, teaching and providing support to shaping mindsets and applying methods to bring about relentless improvement and awareness of the financial impact of processes and decisions.

These methods and practices include Agile, Lean, Lean Portfolio Management (LPM), Project Management and Change Management. The essential elements, such as growth mindset and servant leadership, are very much expected in the application of these methods and practices.

This role heads up the development and sharing of the company’s project management, change management and lean portfolio practices. This will be done through a combination of culture change, upskilling of team members with these skills, as well as being part of business units’ project or portfolio teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand the key strategic challenges and opportunities facing the Group, provide critical thinking, and influence to support business leaders in the use of the various methods and practices.
  • Keep current with the all the practices promoted by the department.
  • Develop, refine, and apply a set of recommended practices, processes, tools and templates for Project Management and Project Development Lifecycle (PDLC), Change Management and Lean Portfolio Management (LPM from the Scaled Agile Framework).
  • Develop the training curriculum and conduct training for the Project Management (based around PMI), PDLC, Change Management and LPM.
  • Work with other department heads to promote all the department’s practices as appropriate.
  • Coach and mentor different levels of employees
  • Constantly apply the thinking, tools and method in project/portfolio management and change management
  • Develop and mentor a team of professionals such as change managers, Project managers or PMO through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes
  • Build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; foster a diverse and inclusive workplace

Requirements

  • University degree.
  • Demonstrated practical and leadership experience in a Project and Change Management
  • 8 years professional experience in project, change and portfolio management with focus on continuous improvement; at least 4 years of leadership role in an Enterprise Portfolio Management Office
  • Experience implementing large scale initiatives and tracking results
  • Ability to work across all levels and lead through influence
  • Experience managing teams; proven ability to lead and motivate
  • Excellent breadth of thinking and enterprise perspective, able to provide pragmatic solutions that consider all relevant constraints whether technical, financial, organisational, risk, competency or capability based.
  • Experience working with and presenting to senior executives
  • The following certifications would be appropriate for this role:
    • PMP or Prince2 Practitioner training
    • SAFe Lean Portfolio Management certification.
  • SAFe Program Consultant; Lean Black Belt; or Change Management Certification would be an advangtage
