Job Posting Details The Division of Public Policy (PPOL) is seeking for an experienced communications professional to work with faculty members and researchers on promoting research and public engagement activities for the Division.

The successful candidate should be able to formulate and drive strategic communications initiatives and plan events that establish and promote PPOL. The appointee is expected to demonstrate their capacity and creativity in driving public policy publicity to maximize the presence of PPOL in the media, identify attractive story angles and present them in an easy-to-understand manner, and manage issues and media inquiries professionally.

The appointee’s major duties include:

  • Assisting in collecting and analyzing data, reviewing key literature in the field, and writing policy research and publicity reports;
  • Engaging internal stakeholders, including various departments and faculty within the Division and the University as well as external stakeholders, such as government, business leaders and related organizations, and community leaders;
  • Managing and coordinating events, such as talks and seminars as well as international conferences on different research topics (e.g. corporate social responsibility);
  • Handling media inquiries, preparing positive stories, and conducting media monitoring, when necessary;
  • Promoting and implementing public engagement events and publicity of PPOL, including but not limited to its taught postgraduate degree programs, through various means of traditional and new media;
  • Writing publicity and communications materials, such as press releases, speeches, newsletters, feature articles for distribution through internal and external channels, and disseminating them via a variety of Mainland and international social media platforms; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned.

Applicants should have a PhD’s degree in related disciplines, such as public policy, public administration, communications, journalism, media and marketing. The appointee should also have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in computer applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, and Chinese word processing), and experience in conducting statistical analyses. (Duration: 1 year, renewable) Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
