Job Purpose:
Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of databases systems within the bank.
This role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, performing regular system maintenance, and implementing updates to enhance system performance and security. Additionally, the job incumbent will need to collaborate with other IT teams to support business operations, maintain detailed records of system performance, and provide technical guidance to optimize the use of database resource.

Install and configure database software on servers:
Database Design and Development:
Database Security and Access Control:
Implement and manage database security measures, including user authentication, authorization, and access controls.
Define and enforce data privacy and confidentiality policies.
Monitor and audit database access and activities to ensure compliance.
Implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity.
Database Performance Monitoring and Tuning:
Monitor database performance metrics and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Analyze and tune database queries and SQL statements for optimal execution.
Optimize database configuration parameters and resource utilization.
Conduct database performance testing and capacity planning.
Patch and Upgrade
Perform software upgrades and patch management to address end-of-support and security vulnerabilities.
Upgrade any legacy End-of-Support (EOS) databases and their related components to ensure continued vendor support and system reliability
Governance & Reporting
Maintain documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
Conduct System Acceptance Testing (SAT) and user account reviews on a semi-annual basis.
Provide monthly system performance reports.
Prepare annual capacity planning reports.
Disaster Recovery & Resilience
Set up and maintain database backup jobs to ensure data protection and recoverability.
Prepare and maintain system disaster recovery (DR) failover procedures.
Activate and support DR systems during annual DR drills.
