Position Purpose
To support the development and execution of strategic communications initiatives that advance the mission, visibility, and reputation of the Hong Kong Red Cross. This role contributes to media relations, content creation, digital engagement, and communication support for humanitarian programmes and emergency response operations.
Principal Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and implementation of integrated communication strategies aligned with organisational priorities and humanitarian values.
- Support day-to-day media relations, including drafting press releases, media pitches, Q&As, and handling media inquiries under guidance.
- Coordinate logistics and content for press events, media briefings, and public engagements.
- Collaborate with programme teams to develop compelling narratives, photo stories, and multimedia content that highlight the impact of HKRC's humanitarian work.
- Support social media and digital communication efforts, including monitoring engagement and suggesting content improvements.
- Maintain and update media contact lists and communication toolkits.
- Monitor local and international media coverage; prepare media clippings and basic analysis reports.
- Provide timely communication support during emergency operations or crises as part of the HKRC response framework.
- Assist in internal communications and cross-departmental coordination as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the management.
Entry Requirement
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in communications, media relations, public relations, or NGO/corporate communications.
- Strong writing and editing skills in both English and Chinese (including Putonghua); ability to adapt tone for different audiences and platforms.
- Basic understanding of the media landscape in Hong Kong and digital communication trends.
- Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) or content management systems is a plus.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
- Demonstrated interest in humanitarian work, social impact, or public service is highly desirable.
