Head of Finance & Controllership – leadership role for HK office

Our client is a global group with a long established reputation across Asia Pacific and the Middle Eastern region. They are renowned for the services and advisory they provide to their clients located locally, regionally and even globally. With an ongoing focus to strengthen their presence in the region, they are now looking for a high calibre finance executive to spearhead their finance function and take a leadership role to work closely with the business in Hong Kong.

Reporting directly to the Regional CFO, this role will assume full responsibility for managing both strategic and operational financial matters. Key duties include:

• Providing leadership, guidance, and development to the finance team, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
• Overseeing all aspects of financial management, including statutory and management reporting, month-end closing, consolidations, and coordination with shared service centres.
• Driving the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and performance targets.
• Partnering with senior management to interpret financial performance, evaluate business implications, and formulate actionable strategies.
• Conducting financial and commercial analysis to assess profitability, performance, and new opportunities.
• Managing risk and identifying opportunities to support business growth and operational efficiency.
• Leading process improvement initiatives and supporting ad hoc strategic projects.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership capability, along with the following credentials:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, CPA, or equivalent) with a strong academic foundation.
• Trained in a Big 4 or reputable CPA firm, with 8–12 years of progressive experience in professional services or a similar environment.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in financial reporting and team management.
• Strong understanding of the Hong Kong and China financial and regulatory frameworks, including taxation exposure.
• Strategic thinker able to balance high-level oversight with hands-on execution when required.
• Executive presence and confidence to engage effectively with senior management, business leaders, and key stakeholders.
• Proven commercial business partnering skills and the ability to influence decision-making.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
