Role Overview
- This position plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the end-to-end execution of toy production orders.
- The Director will be responsible for two core functions:
- (1) Production Control – ensuring accurate production planning, schedule adherence, and proactive risk management
- (2) Vendor Management – overseeing the performance, capacity, and compliance of partner factories in China and Vietnam
- The successful candidate will lead the Production Control and Vendor Management teams in our China office, and will also be responsible for setting up and managing equivalent teams in our Vietnam office.
- This role requires strong cross-border coordination, hands-on factory engagement, and the ability to drive operational excellence across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead production planning and scheduling across multiple toy categories and factory partners
- Monitor material readiness, tooling status, and work-in-progress to ensure timely execution
- Conduct regular production status reviews and validate reported progress against actual factory conditions
- Identify potential delays or capacity issues early and implement corrective actions to maintain delivery timelines
- Manage day-to-day communication and coordination with vendor factories in China and Vietnam
- Evaluate vendor performance in terms of delivery, quality, responsiveness, and compliance
- Conduct regular on-site visits to assess factory operations, troubleshoot issues, and verify production milestones
- Collaborate with vendors to implement process improvements and corrective action plans when needed
- Lead the Production Control and Vendor Management teams in China office
- Set up and manage equivalent teams in Vietnam, ensuring alignment in processes, reporting, and performance standards
- Provide coaching, training, and oversight to ensure team effectiveness across both locations
- Lead root cause analysis for production disruptions and quality deviations
- Develop and enforce corrective and preventive action plans (CAPs) with factory teams
- Work closely with engineering and technical teams to resolve complex manufacturing challenges
Ideal Candidate
- Degree holder preferably in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience in production control and vendor management within the toy industry
- Strong understanding of toy manufacturing processes and seasonal production cycles
- Hands-on experience working with factories in China and Vietnam
- Proven leadership in managing cross-border teams and operational functions
- Experience in multinational toy companies or toy sourcing offices is a strong advantage
- Experience in managing vendor factories in Vietnam is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and operational judgment
- Fluent in English and Mandarin
