Senior Manager – Retail Banking Operations

The Team Lead, Retail Banking Operations, oversees the end-to-end operation of account opening, account maintenance, and ongoing customer due diligence (CDD) reviews for individual retail clients. The role ensures that all operational activities are carried out efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements set by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and other relevant authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team responsible for account opening, maintenance, and periodic CDD reviews of retail customers.
• Ensure daily operational processes meet agreed service levels and quality standards.
• Oversee controls and validation checks to maintain high compliance and reduce operational risks.
• Review and enhance operational procedures to improve efficiency and customer experience.
• Handle escalation cases, including complex account verification and exception handling.
• Coordinate with Compliance, Risk, and IT teams to support regulatory and system enhancements.
• Provide on-the-job coaching and performance guidance to team members.
• Prepare regular operations and compliance reports for management review.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in retail banking operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
• Strong knowledge of HKMA regulations, AML/CFT standards, and KYC/CDD requirements.
• Familiarity with digital banking and process automation preferred.
• Excellent communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in both English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
