From heritage tracks to the city's civic hub! On 29 August, HKTE hosted 19 incoming talent and their families for an exclusive exploration tour, “Civic & Cultural Horizons: From Tram Depot to the Legislative Council”.
The day kicked off at Whitty Street Tram Depot in Sai Wan with a rare, behind-the-scenes look at Hong Kong’s iconic double-decker trams. Participants discovered the century-old craftsmanship behind these "Made in Hong Kong" legends, seeing firsthand how they are handcrafted, restored, and maintained.
The group then stepped into the civic heart of the city with a guided tour of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Complex. Stepping inside the impressive council chambers, the group gained unique insights into Hong Kong's governance, legislative history, and modern civic operations.
Participants described the tour as both engaging and educational, noting that exploring Hong Kong beyond their daily routines provided valuable insights into the city's urban growth, unique charm, and institutional frameworks, reinforcing their decision to pursue long-term development in the city. The Director of HKTE, Mr Felix Chan emphasised that supporting incoming talent in integrating into Hong Kong goes beyond professional advancement. It also involves daily life adaptation, community building connections, and greater awareness of local culture and governance.
