Hong Kong International Airport serves as an international and regional aviation hub, with an expected capacity to handle 120 million passengers and 10 million tonnes of cargo annually starting in 2035. Its strategic location connects the Mainland to the world, while major infrastructure developments — including the Three-Runway System, automated carparks at the Hong Kong Port, and a premium logistics centre — are transforming the area into an "Airport City".
In collaboration with other GBA cities, the city is enhancing intermodal transport to boost overall competitiveness and connectivity in both passenger and cargo services. With a focus on expanding its aviation network along current major routes and potential routes within the Belt and Road Initiative, it aims to strengthen connections with countries across the region.
As a leading regional centre for international legal and dispute resolution services, the city enhances collaboration with the Mainland on judicial matters in civil and commercial cases, strengthening international and regional legal cooperation.
It continues to promote deal-making and dispute resolution services within the GBA and along the Belt and Road regions. Additionally, the city is advancing LawTech and serves as a key provider under the APEC Online Dispute Resolution Service.
Located in the heart of Asia, Hong Kong is the pre-eminent bridge between China and the world, playing a pivotal role in national development strategies, including the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and playing key roles as a "super-connector" and "super value-adder."
With a total area of about 56,000 km2, the GBA comprises the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and the nine municipalities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province. In 2024, the GBA's population exceeded 87 million, with a GDP surpassing US$2 trillion, it is one of the wealthiest regions in the country, with immense consumption potential. Known as the "Silicon Valley of the East", the GBA’s sci-tech cluster, is home to Fortune 500 companies. Hong Kong can leverage the GBA as a strategic platform to access Mainland opportunities and better integrate into the overall development of the country, enabling new development opportunities for enterprises and talent.
