Description of Tasks

Arborists cultivate, manage and study individual trees, shrubs and other perennial woody plants. They examine the health and value of tree, advise on the appearance improvement and maintaining a safe relationship between the trees.

Arboricultural project management knowledge and skills

To ensure success of arboricultural projects, Arborists must manage projects from start to finish. They must coordinate effectively with different professionals and clients, and have to make decisions to ensure that the projects are well completed on time and within budget.

Professional knowledge and skills in arboriculture

Arborists must always apply professional knowledge and skills in relation to arboriculture to solve issues and problems at work.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a higher degree in arboriculture, tree sciences or related fields, such as botany, biology, forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture, landscape management, landscape science or equivalent
  • A qualification/certification awarded by an accredited examination organisations, such as Certified Arborist of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the Professional Member or Fellow of the Arboricultural Association of the United Kingdom, or Professional Member or Fellow of the Arboricultural Association of the United Kingdom, the European Tree Technician of the European Arboricultural Council, the Registered Qualified Arborist/ Registered Practicing Arborist/ Registered Consulting Arborist/ Registered Consulting and Practicing Arborist of the Arboriculture Australia; Or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in arboriculture related work
  • Possession of driving license (class 2) preferred
