Building Services Engineer

Description of Tasks
Building Services Engineers design and advise on building services facilities in buildings. They are responsible for planning, supervising and coordinating the installation, testing, maintenance and repair of the building services facilities.
Professional knowledge and skills in building services engineering
Building Services Engineers have to prepare all drawings and detailed specifications for use by the contractor. They often use computer-aided design (CAD) packages for this work.
Problem solving knowledge and skills
Building Services Engineers supervise the installation of the building services and inspect the quality of the work, they have to deal with any problems that arise.
Minimum Requirements
  • Normally have a bachelor's degree in building services engineering, or equivalent.  Holders of relevant higher diplomas can articulate to related degree programmes.
  • Corporate membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) in Building Services Engineering Discipline or equivalent
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience
