Ship Brokers (Maritime) are specialist intermediaries/ negotiators between buyers and sellers of vessels, or between shipowners and charterers. They negotiate and agree on the arrangement of ocean transport of goods and commodities by sea, or the employment of a vessel.

Ship Brokers (Maritime) must always apply professional knowledge and skills in maritime services to solve issues and problems at work.

Knowledge in shipping law and marine insurance

Ship Brokers (Maritime) must be able to provide professional maritime advice to potential buyers and ship owners, such as shipping law and marine insurance

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in international shipping and transport logistics or business, or related field
  • Membership of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (Hong Kong Branch) is preferable
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in shipbroking, in shipping company, or in related field is required
