Project Assistant (Ref. 251117004)
**[Appointment period: eight months]
Duties**
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Scaling up C-for-Chinese@JC in kindergarten sector to cultivate culturally responsive education”. The project is funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club aiming at supporting ethnic minority children in kindergarten and junior primary sector to learn Chinese under a culturally responsive education framework, as a scale-up extension of a completed project called “C-for-Chinese@JC”. He/She will be required to:
(a) design, develop, and implement different kinds of learning activities to meet the project objectives;
(b) conduct literature review on research topics related to the project;
(c) collect, process, and analyse project data;
(d) organising workshops and project meetings as required;
(e) prepare and disseminate research results and project outcomes; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.
The appointee will sometimes be required to work during the weekend or outside normal work hours as well as work outside campus.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) an honours bachelor's degree in Chinese Language & Literature / Chinese Linguistics, or early childhood education with solid knowledge in the Chinese language;
(b) experience in developing multimedia Chinese language learning materials;
(c) passions in teaching and child support services; and
(d) good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.
Preference will be given to those with fluency in Cantonese, and who have knowledge and experience in teaching Chinese as a second language/educational technology and media/curriculum and instruction/early childhood education.
Candidates with illustration and book production background will have an advantage.
