DATA ENGINEER (1 YEAR CONTRACT)

Responsibilities

• Enhance and optimize the cloud-based data platform on Microsoft Azure, including DataBricks.
• Engage in the complete project lifecycle for cloud data platform improvements with external vendors.
• Work with Data Analysts to prepare, cleanse, and create optimized data models and visualizations in Power BI.
• Execute proof of concept for cloud data products.
• Validate data workflows and integration points through thorough testing.
• Create operational playbooks and automation scripts for efficient deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Document data pipeline architecture and operational procedures for effective troubleshooting and maintenance.

Requirements

MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Certification in cloud data platforms.
• Over 3 years of professional experience in data platforms.
• Knowledge of data lifecycle and governance principles.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, Azure Data Factory, Event Hub/Kafka, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Databricks, Unity Catalog, and Power BI.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Strong self-motivation, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with effective interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in English.

GOOD TO HAVE

• Master's degree in a technical discipline.
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional.
• Experience in scalable data platform implementations or migrations.
• Exposure to data monetization or advanced analytics use cases.
• Understanding of Data & Analytics multi-tenancy, Data Lakehouse architecture, DataOps, MLOps, AIOps, ModelOps, and FinOps.
• Capability to manage junior data engineers and engineering tasks.
• Proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin.
