Associate, Equities Settlements - Global Bank

Overview:
One of our key global financial institution clients is seeking an experienced professional to join its Equity Operations team in Hong Kong. This role is critical to ensuring seamless day-to-day operations across numerous Asia Pacific equity markets, with a strong focus on trade settlement accuracy, client communication, and risk control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary contact for external clients and internal Equity Desk, providing settlement advice and resolving transactional discrepancies
• Ensure timely and accurate settlement of equity trades across multiple markets
• Liaise with clients, middle office, and custodians to prevent settlement delays and initiate stock borrow to avoid buy-ins
• Monitor unmatched trades and update narratives for trade fails
• Oversee excess borrow positions for the principal desk in Asia
• Manage settlement processes for SBL, ETF creation/redemption, and FX bookings.
• Perform reconciliations to ensure alignment between firm records and external brokers/custodians.
• Support Equity Capital Markets transactions, coordinating with issuers and investors to ensure successful market delivery.
• Conduct daily stamp duty calculations and manage SWIFT messaging with custodians.
• Uphold internal controls, compliance standards, and escalation protocols, including anti-money laundering procedures.

Ideal Profile:

• Minimum 6-8 years experience in equity settlements or related operations within Hong Kong banking or securities industries
• Strong understanding of Asia Pacific equity markets and settlement cycles
• Detail-oriented with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with operational risk controls and compliance frameworks
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
