About the Role
This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and shape the execution of Blue Cross's reinsurance strategy. As the core member of the reinsurance function, the Senior Manager will be responsible for implementing strategic initiatives as directed by the Reinsurance Committee for both Medical and Non-Medical business. The role also involves managing treaty placements, and ensuring governance and compliance, while reporting directly to the CFO.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Reinsurance Strategy - Make strategic recommendations to the Reinsurance Committee.
Retention Management: Optimize retention levels to balance profitability and risk exposure.
Reinsurance Governance- Lead negotiations with AIA GO and AIA HK on the governance framework for general insurance and reinsurance.
Conduct periodic reviews of reinsurance strategy and effectiveness, including stress testing and scenario analysis.
Treaty Negotiation & Management- Lead negotiations for reinsurance treaties, including structuring, pricing, and terms.
Coordinate with Finance and Claims teams to ensure smooth operational workflows and audit readiness.
Facultative Reinsurance (Fac-in/Fac-out)- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Underwriting, Product, Claims) and external partners to assess, negotiate, and place facultative reinsurance arrangements (fac-in/fac-out), ensuring alignment with business needs and risk appetite.
Product Governance Coordination- Coordinate with the Product team to support product approval processes where reinsurance is required. Ensure reinsurance arrangements are aligned with product design, pricing, and regulatory expectations.
Stakeholder Engagement- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (AIA GO, AIA HK, distribution, actuarial, underwriting, finance, legal, compliance, risk, product) and external partners (brokers, reinsurers) to ensure effective communication and execution of reinsurance arrangements.
Reporting & Analysis- Provide regular reporting and insights to the CFO and senior management on reinsurance performance, market trends, and strategic opportunities.
Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks and report to Reinsurance Committee.
Documentation & Compliance- Ensure all reinsurance contracts and documentation are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory standards.
Job Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field; advanced degree or professional designation (e.g., ACII, FCII, CPCU) preferred.
Ability to work independently and manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
