Caritas Hospitality Services (“CHS”) is one of the services of Caritas - Hong Kong, a charitable organization and official social service agency of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong. CHS embraces Lodge, Hostel and Catering Services. The Lodges and Hostels provide comfortable and affordable accommodation for local people, travellers, students and overseas expatriate living away from home. Catering service includes restaurants, fast food, in-house and outside catering service.

Assistant Hostel Service Manager

Reporting to the Hostel Service Manager, the successful candidate is expected to:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a cozy environment with a home-away-from-home atmosphere to hostel residents and attend to their needs;
  • Perform all activities required to maintain efficient administration of the Hostel Service according to the established policy;
  • Manage and supervise hostel staff and external contractors to ensure proper standard of service is maintained;
  • Ensure the Standard of Operation is strictly observed and be reviewed on an annual basis;
  • Promote the sales of hostel service through various means, e.g. foster good public relations with potential residents, build business connection with commercial firms, organizations and universities etc.;
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial and statistical reports of the Hostel Service as well as to help prepare the annual plan and yearly budget of the Hostel Service.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or above in Hospitality Management or related disciplines with a minimum 3 years’ managerial experience in Hostel or Hotel Front Office operation;
  • Be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua);
  • Equip with good problem-solving skills and can work independently;
  • Be familiar with Property Management System, and well verse in office software applications, including Words, Excel and Powerpoint; and
  • Have a heart to serve, pleasant and self-motivated character with good communication and interpersonal skills.
