QA Director - Metal Component

The QA Director will oversee and lead the quality assurance processes within the engineering and manufacturing department of a retail-focused organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of quality standards and compliance.

Description

• Own full accountability for quality performance across CNC machining, stamping, die-casting, surface finishing (anodizing, PVD, etc.), and final assembly of precision metal parts.
• Lead a team of QA/QC professionals, including incoming quality, in-process control, final inspection, supplier quality, and customer quality engineering.
• Drive continuous "zero escape" quality culture while achieving aggressive PPM and yield targets required by flagship smartphone, tablet, wearable, and laptop programs.
• Oversee advanced quality systems: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D problem-solving, and full compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific requirements.
• Act as the primary quality interface with strategic customers during NPI, audits, quarterly business reviews, and on-site visits.
• Champion adoption of Industry 4.0 quality tools (AOI, 3D CT scanning, automated optical inspection, real-time SPC dashboards).
• Manage supplier quality development and performance for raw materials, plating, and outsourced processes.

Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of progressive quality leadership experience in metal manufacturing (CNC, MIM, stamping, die-casting, or anodizing).
• Proven track record as Head/Director of Quality for Tier-1 suppliers serving flagship consumer electronics programs.
• Deep expertise in cosmetic and functional defect classification, GD&T, GR&R, and high-volume appearance standards.
• Strong command of customer-specific quality systems (e.g., CSQP, QMS audits, change management, SCAR processes).
• Experience leading large quality teams in mainland China with fluency in Mandarin and English.
• Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent certification highly desirable.
