Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this in-house legal role offers vast opportunities to candidates who are keen to specialize in legal and compliance areas and provide legal advice and support to our management team and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and proactive legal and compliance advice and support in relation to the company’s businesses and operations in Hong Kong, Macau, and Chinese Mainland
  • Draft, review and negotiate business contracts and legal documents (including distributorship agreements, licensing agreements, etc.); liaise with business partners, internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure legal and commercial terms properly incorporated to safeguard company interests and mitigate risks
  • Manage extensive trademark portfolio; handle and provide advice on IP-related matters including new trademark applications, trademark renewals, non-use cancellations etc.
  • Communicate and liaise with external lawyers when necessary
  • Provide regular updates on key business contracts, including management of contract summaries and monitor contract renewal status
  • Provide updates on legal and legislative requirements that may impact online and offline retail operations, make recommendation and build up standard practice to ensure compliance
  • Handle legal cases, investigation from government authorities (e.g. Customs Department, PCPD and OFCA) when necessary
  • Support the Head of Finance to review banking and treasury contracts
  • Draft, review, update and implement internal policies and procedures periodically
  • Conduct legal research and organize internal trainings on key legal updates when necessary
  • Handle ad hoc projects or other assignments as and when required

Requirements

  • University graduate in Law or related disciplines
  • At least 6 years’ relevant experience in law firms and/or commercial corporations
  • Sound legal knowledge in commercial practice
  • Solid experience in handling legal, IP and compliance matters
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills in English and Chinese
  • Attentive to details, with strong business sense, analytical skills, independent thinking and critical mindset
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to multitasking and meet tight deadline
  • Candidates with less experience but good potential will be considered as Assistant Legal Manager
