Naval Architect / Ship Surveyor

Description of Tasks
  • Naval architects with expertise in studying and preparing specification for the building, conversion or repair of ship or offshore structures; studying, designing, and advising ships and offshore structures; planning and supervising their overall design, development, construction, operation, maintenance and repair; and providing professional advice for the certification and registration of vessels in accordance with the requirements of international conventions.
  • Ship surveyors with expertise play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of vessels in the maritime industry. Their duties include but not limited to: conduct regular inspections, and evaluate vessel structures, machinery, and safety systems; issue necessary certificates; review stability calculations, load-handling procedures, and emergency response plans; approve design plans for vessel construction or modifications in accordance with regulatory compliance; investigate the causes in the event of accidents; offer valuable consultancy services to vessel owners and industry stakeholders, and contribute to the continuous improvement of maritime safety practices.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from a university in naval architecture, marine surveying, naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical engineering or marine operations.
  • For Naval Architect: At least 5 years of relevant experience in the planning, administering or expediting of ship design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large shipbuilding or ship conversion engineering project in shipping companies, classification societies, marine consultancy companies or shipyards, 2 years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity.
  • For Ship Surveyor: Possess knowledge of related regulations, along with strong analytical and communication skills, good decision-making ability, the capability to interpret technical data and work autonomously
  • For Ship Surveyor: At least 5 years of relevant experience in marine surveying, naval architecture, classification societies, marine engineering or equivalent.
