Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) recently hosted the themed seminar “Education Chapter: Primary School Selection Strategies and Secondary School Transition Planning in Hong Kong”.
During the seminar, Mr Jonathan Lai provided incoming talent families with a comprehensive overview of Hong Kong’s “Primary One Admission” system and school categories, including Grant, Aided, Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) and Private schools. He highlighted comprehensive support for newly arrived students transitioning to their new environment, including Cantonese classes, school counsellors and on-campus social workers.
Mr Dion Chen, M.H., shared insights into the unique features of Hong Kong’s education system and explored the different pathways available for students’ academic progression. He introduced various curriculum options, including the HKDSE, IB, and UK GCE A-level, and highlighted how DSS schools serve as an attractive option for global students by offering an internationalised learning environment that supports their educational goals.
Concluding with a Q&A session, Mr Jonathan Lai and Mr Dion Chen, M.H., shared practical advice on strategic school selection and long-term academic planning, helping talent families better understand how to select schools that best align with their children's aptitudes and interests in Hong Kong.
