Hong Kong's higher education has continued to hold top spots in the World University Rankings 2026 by THE

In the latest World University Rankings 2026 released by Times Higher Education (THE), Hong Kong is the only city in the world with five universities ranked among the global top 100, with all its ranked institutions gaining higher positions. It’s a testament to Hong Kong’s status as an international post-secondary education hub.

 

According to the latest THE World University Rankings:

  • The University of Hong Kong rose two places to 33rd globally; 
  • The Chinese University of Hong Kong moved up three places to 41st; 
  • The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology jumped eight places to 58th; 
  • City University of Hong Kong advanced three places to 75th; 
  • The Hong Kong Polytechnic University climbed one place to 83rd. 

The outstanding rankings underscore Hong Kong's post-secondary education as highly internationalised and diversified, with a pool of outstanding teaching and research talent. The city will continue to deepen its role as an international hub for higher education and a converging point of global talent, seizing opportunities, and leveraging strengths to drive long-term development.
