HKTE recently co-organised a Tuen Ng Festival event with St. James’ Settlement’s "Viva Blue House"

In celebration of the Tuen Ng Festival, Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) recently co-organised a festive event with St. James’ Settlement’s "Viva Blue House".

The families of both incoming talent and locals gathered at the Blue House to craft mini dragon boats using eco-friendly and recycled materials, savour traditional rice dumplings, and help set up the venue for a mini dragon boat racing competition, deepening their connections with the local community through relaxed and interactive engagement.

Paddy, a talent from Scotland who currently works at the Kai Tak Sports Park, shared that his family of four has been living in Hong Kong for three years and deeply appreciates the city’s safe and liveable environment, which enables his daughters to enjoy a carefree upbringing. He brought his family to participate in the event to experience Hong Kong's traditional Tuen Ng culture. Furthermore, Jessie, a talent from Shanghai, also shared that she came to Hong Kong alone to develop her career. She subsequently learned about the advantages of the city’s education system through a seminar hosted by HKTE. This inspired her to arrange for her daughter to study here. She highly praised the volunteering service event for offering a valuable opportunity to interact with more local families, adding that her daughter is already looking forward to the next event.

Mr Felix Chan, the Director of HKTE, interacted warmly with the talent volunteers, their families and locals. He emphasised that for incoming talent to truly integrate into Hong Kong, lifestyle integration and community connection are just as vital as career development. He believes that the “Talent+ Volunteer Programme” provides an exceptional pathway for talent to experience Hong Kong culture firsthand, foster meaningful friendships, and contribute to the community.

HKTE will continue partnering with various community organisations through the “Talent+ Volunteer Programme” to create experiences that support incoming talent feel right at home in this dynamic city.  Follow us for the latest updates!
