Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) hosted the themed seminar "Education Chapter: Mastering Hong Kong's International & Private School Systems – Selection Strategies & Holistic Support" today, offering an overview of Hong Kong's international and private school landscape, along with practical school selection advice and parenting tips.
Mr Stefan Tueger, Founder and Executive Director of Lion Rock Education, outlined Hong Kong's diverse education system and compared the curricula of international and private schools. He also gave clear guidance on applications and admissions, encouraging parents to match schools to their child's needs and interests, prioritise fit over rankings, and shortlist four to six target schools to avoid common pitfalls.
Dr Valerie Lagarde, Senior Manager of Pre-Kindergarten at ESF Explore, shared practical parenting skills on using activities, readings, and art to strengthen parent-child connections in everyday life. She emphasised the importance of staying attentive to changes in children’s emotions at different stages of growth. She also encouraged parents to provide support and maintain open communication to foster a sense of security, resilience, and confidence. This helps children develop a sense of belonging and transition smoothly into school life in Hong Kong.
